Narawan Williams, a fauna ecologist specialising in nest boxes and microbats from the greater Sydney region will guide us through some features of making a good nestbox: including baffles to reduce risk of Indian mynahs and starlings using the box, choice of materials for making your nestbox last longer and some design features for different boxes for gliders, possums and parrots. In the workshop we will be working in small groups to build a range of boxes for use in Landcare projects. Every participant will also get “flat-pack” nestbox to complete in the workshop if time permits or to take home to build. This will be a hands on workshop - we will be using drills and other tools to make your nestbox. Please wear suitable clothing and closed sturdy shoes.
- Cost $50, includes lunch, afternoon tea and a flat-pack nestbox to build at the workshop or at home. Limited to 30 participants.
